Our divine mission
At Mending Hearts Sewing Project, our main goal is to help each woman recognize their need for salvation through the saving grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are dedicated to providing hope and stability, paving the way for a better future for them and their families.
Empowering through skills
Our sewing program begins with foundational skills, with students making a pin cushion, then progressing to a variety of usable items. They learn diverse sewing techniques through projects like sewing machine covers, aprons, and tote bags with zippers and buttons. Ultimately, they master creating beautiful items to sell, including hair scrunchies, placemats, table runners, fabric-covered journals, tote bags, beach bags, aprons, potholders, and more.
Making an impact
Buying a gift from Mending Hearts Sewing Project has a profound impact. For many of these women, it provides food for their families' tables and crucial funds for their children to attend school. In Belize, all children must pay tuition, wear uniforms, and provide their own supplies. Many do not go beyond 8th grade due to financial constraints.
Every item purchased helps put food on the table, sends kids to school, and supports our ministry in teaching more women. We offer hope and stability through our sewing program, empowering women to provide for their families and glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
Fostering hope and stability
Mending Hearts Sewing Project empowers women and their families by teaching them to sew high-quality items they can sell to local tourist markets. This not only provides a sustainable income but also instills confidence and a sense of purpose, leading to greater hope and stability in their lives.
Every Mending Hearts Sewing Project student receives a sewing machine (if their home is equipped with electricity), and the many sewing supplies they need to get started, at the end of the 10 week sewing course. This happens through generous donations and lots of fundraising events.
